Year Running: 2019/2020
Credit level: F6

Description

This course aims to familiarise students with developments in contemporary fiction in Dutch by focussing on a selection of key texts from the period 1945 to the present day. It will concentrate on the ways in which the structures and conventions of the traditional novel are questioned and transformed and address issues of identity and authenticity. The texts will be put in a wider cultural context to obtain an increased insight into the contemporary societies of the Dutch-speaking regions. Active student participation and further reading will be required.
